    Lead Pastors

    Pastor Mark and Cheryl have been in ministry since 1979. Married in 1976, they have been blessed with six children, 5 grandsons and 7 granddaughters. Pastor Mark is an Ordained Bishop with the Church of God, Cleveland, TN. In reference to the denominational title of "Bishop" he prefers to simply be called "Pastor". He is a graduate of Lee University with a major in Pastoral Ministries and a minor in Biblical Studies. He also holds Masters Degrees in Christian Ministries and Christian Formation from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary and recently completed his Doctorate of Ministry from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary. Cheryl is a licensed minister in the Church of God and holds a Masters degree in Christian Counseling from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary. Pastor Mark and Cheryl work very well along side of one another, complimenting ministry in music, teaching, preaching and leadership. Youth Ministry, Christian Education and Music Ministry have been an integral part of their ministry through the years. Pastor Mark has served his local, state and national church through various board assignments. Pastor Mark has a heart for missions in third world countries. He traveled throughout Central America leading mission trips and continues these trips as often as possible. Stay around Pastor Mark for very long and he will have you joining him on the next trip! Pastor Mark and Cheryl were each raised in a Pastor's home. Cheryl has been a resident of south Atlanta since birth. Her father, the late Reverend Arthur Smith, pastored the Riverdale Church of God for 44 years. He retired in 1999 and Pastor Mark assumed the role of Senior Pastor at Riverdale. In November of 2007, the church at Riverdale moved to Tyrone where Pastor Mark assumed the leadership of New Heritage Church of God. Pastor Mark and Cheryl have ministered together in the south metro area for over 40 years. "The mission of our hearts," according to Pastor Mark and Cheryl, "is to lift up the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to everyone we can and to create an environment where individuals and families alike can find a place to belong".

  • Pastor Matt & Rebekah Armstrong

    Family & Worship Pastors

    Pastor Matt & Rebekah were married in the fall of 2011 and currently reside in Tyrone, GA with their four children Jonah, Norah, Ava, and Noah. They are graduates of Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Matt is an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Youth Ministry and Rebekah has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Matt is originally from Pennsylvania, where he was called into student ministry at the age of 16. He has served and ministered to students for over 15 years in both part time and full time positions. He is an FCA Ambassador in Fayette County, is a chaplain for Sandy Creek High School's football and basketball teams and is involved in the local Tyrone schools. He has a heart to reach out to students, coaches, teachers and leaders in our local community. To Rebekah, Georgia is home. She has worked with children and youth since the age of 12. She has a passion to see everyone she comes in contact with encounter Jesus Christ in such a way that it not only changes them, but their environment, friends and families. Rebekah also serves as the Worship Pastor at Tyrone Community. It is her desire to see others experience an intimate, life changing encounter in the presence of God through worship. Pastor Matt and Rebekah oversee outreach in our local community. It is their desire to see the families of Tyrone Community grow in their relationship with Christ and to strengthen the relationships within the family unit.

  • Pastor Jordan & Emily Horne

    Youth & Children’s Pastors

    Jordan and Emily Horne serve as our Student Ministries Pastors and Children's Ministry Directors. Jordan and Emily were married in November of 2014 and currently reside in Fayetteville, GA with their four children Lucy, Evelyn, Solomon and Martha. Jordan, originally from a small town in Texas, is an ordained minister in the Church of God. Jordan gave his heart to the Lord at the age of 18 and was immediately called to ministry and pursued that calling. He is a graduat of Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in Ministry Leadership, with an emphasis on Pastoral Ministry. Jordan has over 10 years of ministry experience varying from involvement in Masters Commission in Texas, serving as a Ministry Intern, as well as Youth Pastor. Emily, originally from Georgia, is a graduate of Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in Intercultural Studies. While at Lee Emily spent 10 weeks interning in Cambodia and fell in love with the culture, the people, and most importantly, sharing the gospel with those who have not heard. Jordan & Emily have a passion for building meaningful relationships through service and outreach with the students as well as families in our local church body and in the community.
